Here we arrive at week three of our Summer Sundae countdown. In previous weeks we’ve looked at Los Campesinos and Stornoway and this time we’ve gone for the less well known These Furrows.
It seems only right that one of our tipped acts are a Leicester based band but that isn’t to say that These Furrows are any less deserving than anyone to make list. Regular Monograph readers will be fully aware of how highly we rate These Furrows which we have done ever since we first heard them in October of last year following the release of their debut EP Masks. These Furrows have a sound which is quite difficult to define or draw comparisons to but you can hear shades of allsorts from Incubus to Mystery Jets.
These Furrows are set to release their second EP soon with the first single, Without Manner, available now on their MySpace and due for release on August 2nd. With the new single These Furrows have gained a much grander, more focused sound than the material on their debut and expect more of the same from the forth coming EP. Given These Furrows’ increasing popularity and reputation as a fantastic live act they have now emerged from the shadows cast by bands Kyte and Maybeshewill and can now stand tall with the best of them. With their lively, catchy riffs they’re certain to get everyone fired up for seeing off the final day of Summer Sundae in style.
These Furrows open the Main Stage of Summer Sundae on Sunday 15th August. Check back next week to see the Monographs forth pick of the weekend!
