Not just one in fact… Three! Yes you heard correctly, it has been revealed today that three O2 Academies are due to open in Leicester in September. The Academy Music Group has stated that they will be opening a 1,450-capacity O2 Academy, a 500-capacity O2 Academy 2 and a 250-capacity O2 Academy 3 in the University of Leicester.
Acts already confirmed to perform are Plan B and we imagine a host of major acts will be revealed in the coming weeks. This news comes just months after the Auditorium in the Market Square was reported to be opening its doors once again in a bid to get bigger acts to the area. Other academies in the country, such as Brixton pictured above, have played host to Florence and the Machine and MGMT, so here’s hoping that Leicester gets the same treatment.
As always we will keep you updated on news relating to this and when acts performing are released.
